2016 Telstra Business Award winner
In August 2016, we were positively thrilled when Telstra announced that we had won the inaugural National Telstra Business Award in the Charity category.
Our unique collaborative model with Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision was recognised for its innovative approach and entrepreneurial spirit within the charity sector.
In accepting the award Snowdome co-founder Professor Miles Prince said the win was a special recognition of the hard work that both charities are undertaking in shining a spotlight on the need to urgently find cures for blood cancers and bone marrow failure syndromes.
“This award will help us raise national awareness and raise vital funds. Awareness translates to dollars, dollars means new trials and new drugs and this means more lives saved. As a blood cancer specialist I know that with Snowdome funds, Australian patients are living longer, better lives.”
Miles continued his speech to talk about the partnership with Maddie’s Vision and how the joining of our two organisations proves what can be done in a short time if people work together.
He also thanked the hard work, faith and trust of the Boards of our two organisations, the “truly amazing” CEO’s of both Snowdome and Maddie’s Vision and their small hardworking teams, the many volunteers and pro bono partners and finally the donors, “who have put ‘skin in the game’ and entrusted us to accomplish our vision”.
We are thrilled that Snowdome and Maddie’s Vision now have a new supporter in Telstra who will help spread our message, widen recognition of our brands and make more people aware that maximising the charity dollar is about running a great business.
In closing Miles acknowledged the two people who inspire us every day: Chloe Rutherford and Maddie Riewoldt, whose legacy is to help save the lives of the thousands of Australian men, women and children suffering from blood cancers and bone marrow failure syndromes.
